On November 19th, Satya Nadella, CEO and Chairman of Microsoft, announced in a post on the social platform X that former OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman, along with former OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman and their team, will join Microsoft to jointly lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team.

We look forward to getting to know Emmett Shear and OAI's new leadership team and working with them. And we're extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success." said Nadella.
Sam Altman, in a subsequent retweet, responded, "the mission continues".
It is well-known that Microsoft is the largest investor and a significant partner of OpenAI, having invested a total of $13 billion in the organization. The inclusion of OpenAI's leaders will further enhance Microsoft's strength in the field of artificial intelligence and drive greater breakthroughs in advanced technology research.
Previously, OpenAI sparked industry discussions by abruptly removing founder and CEO Sam Altman. In a statement on Friday, OpenAI announced Altman's resignation from the CEO position and departure from the board. The statement reads, "Mr. Altman's departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI."
